Are giving you the right amount of food when you order to go??
Coming here for 30 years, quick lunches to big dinner parties. Best food ever! We often drive here from Stockton now, its that good.
MoreService here is good but have to say the food is totally average. Prices are quite steep as well but I guess that's the location.
MoreInauthentic, Americanized, poorly flavored food. Probably fine if you're looking for American Chinese food; if you're looking for the kind of flavor you'd get overseas, look elsewhere. The service is great though.
MoreNormally try to eat here when i am in town on business but this last time, maybe not anymore. The food is great and so is the atmosphere. The service on the other hand, at least for me, has been lacking the last couple of times. Maybe the problem is with getting a table for 1...Just seems like i have had to ask for refills of both my drink and the hot sauce. This time, i was sitting right in front of the door from the kitchen and my waiter had to walk past me no matter who else he served.
MorePlace lives up to its positive reviews. I pre-ordered the Beijing duck (you have to at least 4 hours prior). It is very close to what I had in Beijing in one of the best duck restaurants in the area, at least so I'm told. The service is pretty good and the waiter we had was super helpful in offering to take our group photos.
MoreMost delicious food ever 😋
Take out without any utensils to eat your food, I guess you have to ask but I’m sure this time with the covid going on not one restaurant is doing dine in. Take out is to go. That means you need utensils, napkin or chop stick to eat your food to go.. please Chef Chu provide this basic things.
MoreTried this spot before with a friend and I am hooked ever since. I love the excellent character and flavorful dishes and beverages. I recommend this place.
MoreHad my 30th birthday dinner there 20+ years ago and it's been great the entire time from then until now. The food here is authentically delicious.
MoreYuck. The eggrolls were soggy and rotten. The chow mein was plain and the sweet and sour pork was drenched in sugary sauce. This was my 2nd time there and nothing will get me to go back.
MoreAmazing Chinese food in Bay area (mountain view - Los Altos area). Always very busy and crowded. So better book reservation before directly going there with large group of peoples. If you are in Bay area this deserve a definite visit to enjoy Chinese food.
MoreChef chus used to be a nice place. Staff are friendly but really slow. At one point the waiters just stopped coming over to our table. Quite disappointing. Food quality seemed to have gone down since some dishes seemed bland.
MoreRoy was our waiter and was outstanding with his recommendations of the menu. He really knew the food they serve. The food was outstanding. I would have to say is was some of the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. I wish I could have tried ever dish on the menu. The prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly and accommodating.
MoreI dont know what to say. The duck fat just melts in your mouth. The service was spectacular. Definitely on my to dine list.
Morelast night was our first time we visited this fine restaurant. But It is obviously not the last time. We had a good time with the excellent service, with the exceptional dishes and fine drinks and with the comfortable cost. We will no doubt return there again.
MoreGreat place for eating family style. Staff was super friendly.
I went to this place because the new old sew hong was closed it is definitely different but I like the other restaurant better 😊
MoreThey have the best Chinese chicken salad I've ever had. So go and try it and tell ur friend s
MoreService was outstanding. 3pm was the perfect time, easy parking and we were not rushed. Totally enjoyed our time.
MoreThis place is great! Try any of the prawn dishes which are all incredibly flavorful with high quality prawns. The crispy noodles dish is also super good and comes with very generous portions
MoreGreat food. Great accommodations for my 97 year old grand father. Even left my favorite hat and they found it. Would totally recommend!!!
MoreLast year while I was waiting inside this Chinese restaurant to pick up a take out order, a homeless gentleman came into the restaurant and asked for some food. He looked really thin and tired...and was NOT displaying any kind of threatening or erratic behavior while he was pleading for some food. None of the owners or employees inside the restaurant showed any kind of empathy or offered to provide him with any kind of meal. They ignored him for a few moments, and then two of their employees basically proceeded to corner him at the entrance, and yelled at him to leave the premises. Without displaying any kind of threatening or erratic behavior....the homeless man simply just walked away. It was a very disturbing scene to witness such cold heartiness from a restaurant who has made their fortune, thankfully to the same community who welcomed them in the 1970’s. The people running this business are greedy and unkind to the most vulnerable of the community.
MoreGot wonton soup, vegetable fried rice, and pineapple chicken. All of it was super super flavorful. I couldn't get over how savory the wonton soup broth was in particular!
MoreWe were a large group of people, so we had the upper floor to ourselves. The menu was fixed, but it felt like a never ending choice and variety. I enjoyed my dinner thoroughly. The price, given that this is a very expensive area, was at bargain level. Probably at least $50 less per person than one should reasonably expect for such meal. I recommend this restaurant.
MoreI've been going to Chef Chu's for over 25 years because of their great daily (including weekends) lunch specials. I've taken many people here and they still remember how wonderful the food was - even after all these years! Their wonton soup has the most delicious chicken broth I've ever tasted - it's like liquid gold! And the egg rolls are super-scrumptious! But you MUST try the wok-seared salmon in black bean sauce - for me that's their signature dish. It's AWESOME!!! I love this place - and so does everyone I know!
MoreThis is a good place for Chinese food. Seating is somewhat compact, we were a group of 14 and we were placed at a table that would be good for 8-10. Service is quick and efficient.
MoreWe all ordered the create your own lunch special. All 3 of our meals the entree was cold. Not lukewarm, not tepid....cold. The kicker for us was there was a small pebble in her plate. At first the waiter to tell us it was from the chili sauce... Except that this was in the Almond Chicken... I've eaten here before and it was pretty good.... But this.... Never again.
MoreProbably the best known and the oldest Chinese restaurant in the area. Great food for all tastes and a full bar. Friday nights are so busy that we only do take out.
MoreChef Chu’s has been a family staple and favorite for several generations. It is a treasure. Food and service is impeccable.
MoreThis Chinese restaurant is one of few I have encountered that can accommodate both a vegetarian diet and a peanut and tree nut allergy, and the food is excellent.
MoreI have been to Chef Chu in the past... i would have given them a 5star rating. We ordered lunch for work last week... THE WORST CHINESE FOOD I’VE EVER HAD!!!
MoreVery good food, but the Generals chicken we had was a little bit to sweet and not quite spicy enough
MoreCredit card FRAUD ALERT!!! Potential problem with a staff member scanning credit cards used for payment. I have been going to Chef Chu's for over 40 years. Last night I used a credit card to pay for our dinner there and it was compromised shortly thereafter. I have not used that credit card any other place recently. My credit card company promptly alerted me and told me the event occurred the same date after I used my card. The party attempted to use it for an UBER in the amount of $150! Fortunately, the charge was denied. I called Chef Chu's to give them a heads up. The female on the phone brushed it off saying that it hasn't been a problem before, but I requested she tell management anyway in case it happens again.
MoreOne of the best Chinese food restaurants, everything on the menu is great I recommend the shrimp and lobster sauce. The customer service is good too. The portions are a little smaller not the best for sharing.
MoreAs usual our service was wonderful and the food was excellent. The Coin Broker has had there Christmas party here for 20 years plus. Our friendship with the owners and staff becomes more special every year. Thank you Chef Chu's!
MoreIt was ok. I've honestly had better tasting Chinese food. I'm from the East coast so I'm used to being served large portions for half the price. When it was all said and done, we spent $90t including the tip for 3 people. At home the bill probably would've been about $45. Also, my mom and I both felt a little queasy shortly after leaving the restaurant. The service was fine, but I probably wouldn't go back.
MoreWent here a while back for a date with my girlfriend and the food was nice but it was overpriced. On top of that we noticed the food being served to other tables and our portions were way smaller in comparison. The restaurant decided to cut our portions down because it was just 2 of pus We ended up paying the same price as other tables with 3 people but still received less on our plates.
More好吃。Good food with vegetarian options. Always packed with customers. Recommend making a reservation.
MoreWe had reservations which were honored in a timely manner, but service after that kind of went downhill. We were never asked for our drinks and only given water, food took awhile to get out between appetizers and entrees (which were warm, not hot), and then they missed an entire entree that we had ordered and brought it out after everyone had finished eating.I was visiting with family who are locals and they really hyped this place up, especially with all of the famous people who had been here before.I’ve had better food and service for a lot less.I’m not really interested in coming back again.
MoreI regularly come by purchasing some food in this spot. I love the swift customer service and well prepared food. 5 stars.
MoreVery impressive food and the combination of choices. I thought this place was going to be okay because of the popularity of the owner. But I realized why this place is famous and has quality plates with allot of options. If you have time take a look around to see all the famous people on the wall.
MoreWe came to this restaurant for lunch. my friend recommended this place. Well, it was a winning. The staff were extremely nice and we felt fantastic. The food was just great. We enjoyed every moment and we shall definitely come back again. Warmly recommended.
MoreVery normal, but also extremely greasy and salty. It wasn't authentic enough - the supposedly thin sliced strips of beef were hunks - and the china and chopsticks were poor quality. They were wooden, single-use ones. We sat next to an exit, so one of the members of our party was forced to sit at the edge where he partially blocked the exit. The food reminded me of Panda Express, but a bit fancier and smaller in portion. The only thing I like about this restaurant was the message in my fortune cookie.
MoreGreat restaurant! Great food and great service. Every plate we've had has been good.
MoreLike no other! Has always been my favorite Chinese food! I come from a ways away just to have it💜
MoreThe service is really terrific.Great food. Many fine Chinese dishes, while many are (deliberately yet discreetly) more geared for the general American audience.
MoreThis place offers superb service and yummy food. The best spot around here. The meals served fast and the rates were inexpensive. Highly recommended.
MoreAwesome as always! Pur favorite Chinese restaurant in the bay area. Very yummy, Lisa provided wonderful service and I'm looking forward to leftovers tomorrow!
MoreHave been wanting to try this place for some time so finally got some take out during this shelter in place epoch. Its OK. Very American Chinese food. The sweet and sour chicken was way too sweet. Like eating chicken drenched in sugar sauce. The noodles were not bad. The wonton were probably my favorite. Fresh and hot even after getting them all the way home.
MoreExcellent fresh Chinese food in the bay and atmosphere upscale but inviting. Must try when your in the bay area!
